Bleed

What is bleed?

Bleed refers to page content that extends beyond the trim size. For example, if you have a full bleed black page, the bleed area will also be black.

If you have a full bleed image, it will extend past the trim area and out to the bleed edge.

The function of bleed is to ensure that any pages with solid background color or edge-to-edge images will not have white lines along the edges of the pages when the book is trimmed to final size.

Do you offer full bleed printing?

We can print pages that have full-bleed imagery and color fills, and there is no extra fee for full-bleed printing.

We just require that your files are set up with the proper bleed area specified in our file preparation guidelines.

Bleed size for contents

For book contents, your document setup should specify 0.125" bleed on the top, bottom, and outside. The inside edge does not require bleed.
