Paper

Can I supply my own paper?

We typically use our stock interior papers for printing. However, we are open to considering the use of your own paper on a case-by-case basis. Please note that if you choose to supply your own paper, we may need to conduct test print runs to ensure optimal results. This additional step may extend the overall turnaround time of your order. It's important to keep this in mind, especially if your project has a strict deadline.

Paper Samples

If you would like to receive sample swatches of our current paper stock selection, contact us ("Sample Request")

We can also send you swatches of our hardcover linen materials, classic softcover options, and laminate types. Just let us know what you are interested in seeing.

Can you help me choose a paper?

We can certainly recommend one or more papers that we feel will work well for your project. When advising on paper selection, we take into account your book's content (photography, artwork, text, etc.) as well as physical properties (page dimensions, page count).

When deciding on a paper, it's quite helpful to review physical samples so that you can see the paper tone and feel the surface. We can send you sample swatches of our current paper selection—contact us ("Sample Request") and we'll ship those off to you.

Paper Options

We offer a selection of high quality interior papers manufactured by Cougar, Domtar, Mohawk, Sappi and others, all of which print beautifully on our presses.

We are happy to send you sample swatches of our interior papers which include:

Super Smooth Uncoated

  • A bright white paper with a smooth surface, allowing for accurate color reproduction.
  • This is a good option for art, photography, and illustration books.

Matte Coated

  • Especially good option for photography and solid color graphic reproduction. It's great for fine art content as well.
  • It produces the rich detail and vibrant color of other coated papers, but without a high gloss finish.

Smooth Uncoated

  • A good option for text-based books (poetry, fiction, memoirs, etc.) and has a slightly rougher feel.
  • Color images can also print well on this paper.

Natural Tone Uncoated

  • Identical to smooth uncoated but has a warm white color that can be easier on the eyes. However, color images will not print with accuracy due to the warmer color of the paper

Vellum Uncoated

  • A premium toothier paper that has a matte look and provides good opacity.
  • Color images print well; however, blacks will not appear as dark as our other paper selections.
